Product Description

The WomanCup menstrual cup in Large size is the perfect solution for those who are environmentally conscious and who want having their period to be easier than it is using traditional sanitary pads and tampons. The WomanCup is a small, cup-shaped container made of silicone that is inserted in the lower base of the vaginal canal to collect menstrual blood. The cup should be emptied every 4-8 hours, depending on how heavy your flow is. The WomanCup in Large size is easy to empty and can be washed simply with warm water before it is reinserted. It can be worn in a variety of situations (while playing sports, swimming, on trips or overnight).

Made of medical-grade silicone and does not contain: phthalates, PVC, latex, heavy metals, dyes or fragrances.

Size guide:

Small: For women under 26 years old who have never delivered a baby.

Large: For women age 26 and over and/or women who have delivered a baby.

How to insert the cup

1) Start by thoroughly washing your hands.

2) Press the sides of the WomanCup together and the fold the top rim to form a “U” shape. A small amount of water-based lubricant or water can be used on the rim for easier insertion, if necessary.

3) Hold the folded WomanCup and insert it while in a standing or squatting position. It will not take long to find which method works best for you. You may need to get used to relaxing your pelvic floor muscles when inserting the cup.

4) Once the WomanCup is positioned correctly, let go of the cup and let it unfold and fully open against the vaginal wall.

5) The WomanCup is inserted lower than a tampon, so you may need to get used to how it feels where it is placed.

How to remove/empty the cup

1) Be sure to thoroughly wash your hands prior to removing the WomanCup.

2) It may be easier to remove the cup by inserting your finger into the vagina and running it along the outside of the cup to let air into the space between. This will release the seal and then you can try to pull it out.

3) While using one hand to release the seal, use your other hand to grip the bottom tip (stem) of the cup and gently pull it out. Over time, you may learn to use your vaginal muscles to help push the cup out. Many women find that squatting helps, as it makes the vaginal canal shorter.

4) It is important to take it slow and hold the cup horizontally so the contents remain inside the cup if it is very full.

5) Empty the contents into the toilet and simply wash the cup with clean water before reinserting. If in a situation where you do not have access to water, carry a small bottle of water with you and rinse the cup over the toilet.

How to get the proper fit

Women come in all shapes and sizes, and the length of the vaginal opening can vary greatly from woman to woman. This is why the WomanCup is made with a long stem (a long, thin stick at the base of the cup). If the stem is too long, it may cause discomfort. The stem is intended to be trimmed slightly, a bit at a time, until it no longer causes discomfort and does not protrude from the vagina. Only cut off a bit at a time until it feels comfortable, and make sure that the end of the stem is not sharp after it has been trimmed.

How to clean the cup

While on your period, it is fine to rinse the cup in clean water after emptying it. In between cycles, however, it is important that you sterilise the cup properly either by placing the WomanCup in boiling water for 2-4 min., or by using sterilising solution purchased from a pharmacy and following the user instructions included. After sterilising the cup, allow it to air dry.

Storing the cup

Do not store the WomanCup in very dry/hot places, as this can damage the cup.

Possible causes of leaks

1) A common usage error that causes leaks is inserting the cup too high in the vaginal canal, preventing the cup from sealing the vaginal opening.

2) If the stem was not trimmed to the proper length, this may cause the cup to ride too far up, preventing it from sealing off the vaginal opening.

3) If the cup leaks, you can check that the cup is completely sealed against the vaginal wall by rotating it a couple of times. Do so by gripping the stem and turning the cup around. You can also make sure the cup is completely open against the vaginal wall by inserting a finger into the vagina and pressing gently along the rim of the cup.

PRECAUTIONARY WARNINGS

Depending on how heavy your menstrual flow is, you should not wear the cup for more than 12 hours without emptying it. It is recommended to empty the cup every 4-8 hours.

The WomanCup is not a contraceptive device and will not protect you against sexually transmitted infections.

If you experience pain, irritation, inflammation, itching or other discomfort from using the WomanCup, discontinue use immediately and contact your doctor.

Do not share your WomanCup with other women.
